Is a diesel filter the same as an fuel water separator?
Diesel filters are not the same as fuel water separators. The function of the diesel filter is to filter out harmful impurities and moisture in the fuel system, protect the normal operation of the engine, reduce wear, avoid blockage, and improve engine life. The fuel water separator for automobiles is a kind of fuel filter. The main function is to remove the water in the diesel oil, so as to reduce the failure of the fuel injector and prolong the service life of the engine.
The common faults and troubleshooting methods of diesel filters are as follows:
1. When it is difficult to start the engine, first check whether there is gas in the filter and pipeline. If so, pump the oil by hand to drain the gas;
2. Secondly, there may be too many impurities intercepted by the filter, the filter screen has been blocked, and the pressure is too large, and the new filter components (filter elements) need to be replaced;
3. Oil leaks from gaskets such as oil pipe joints and vent screws, and the gaskets need to be replaced. If the hand pump is not oiled, it may be due to poor cleanliness and large particles of impurities, which may cause the impurities to stick to the check valve and cause the check valve to fail, thus causing the pump oil to fail. Remove the hand oil pump and clean all parts; oil, replace the filter.
The structure of the diesel filter is roughly the same as that of the oil filter. There are replaceable and spin-on types. As the main filter in the two-stage filtration, the diesel fine filter is also the last line of defense against impurities. Life expectancy is very high. At present, for diesel heavy trucks of the National III standard, the filtration efficiency of particles of 3-5 microns is required to be as high as 98.6%, the filtration efficiency of particles above 5-10 microns is 99.8%, and the filtration efficiency of particles above 10 microns is required to be 99.9%. While ensuring high filtration efficiency, it also needs to meet a small flow resistance to ensure the reliable operation of the engine and sufficient power. The compressed air fuel water separator is used to separate the condensed moisture and oil and other impurities in the compressed air, so that the compressed air can be preliminarily purified. The general operating pressure is 0.1Mpa–2.5Mpa. The other fuel water separation system uses stainless steel wire mesh coalescing packing inside, and the shell is made of steel welded tank structure, and the general operating pressure is 0.1Mpa–2.5Mpa.
