Xinhua News Agency, Guangzhou, November 4 (Reporters Ding Le, Hong Zehua) The China Foreign Trade Centre released information on the 4th stating that a total of 253,000 overseas purchasers attended the 136th Canton Fair, exceeding 250,000 for the first time and hitting a record high. The number of leading multinational purchasing enterprises surpassed 300 for the first time, reaching 308.
As of November 3, a total of 253,000 overseas purchasers from 214 countries and regions had attended the 136th Canton Fair, an increase of 2.8% compared with the previous session. Among them, purchasers from countries jointly building the “Belt and Road Initiative” accounted for over 60%, totaling 165,000 people, with a growth rate of 3.7%. The number of purchasers from Middle Eastern countries grew the fastest, reaching 34,000, an increase of 32.6%. Purchasers from European and American countries saw a significant rebound, with 54,000 in attendance, an increase of 8.2%.
Zhou Shanqing, director of the Canton Fair Press Centre and deputy director of the China Foreign Trade Centre, introduced that the intended turnover of exports at this Canton Fair was $24.95 billion, showing an increase compared with the previous session. The transaction volume of countries jointly building the “Belt and Road Initiative” accounted for more than half, and transactions in the traditional European and American markets also achieved growth. “The overseas purchasers attending this session had clear procurement goals and a strong willingness to cooperate. It is expected that more transactions will be reached after on-site factory inspections and in-depth docking in the follow-up.”
A total of 730 enterprises from 49 countries and regions participated in the Import Exhibition of this Canton Fair. Among them, enterprises from countries jointly building the “Belt and Road Initiative” accounted for 65.5%, and enterprises from RCEP member countries accounted for 33%. Exhibitor groups from Russia, Malaysia, Vietnam and other countries reached intended cooperation with Chinese enterprises. Exhibitor groups from Turkey, South Korea, Egypt and other countries will continue to organize groups to participate in the next session.
After the offline exhibition of this Canton Fair closed, the online platform will continue to operate on a regular basis. The 137th Canton Fair will be held in Guangzhou in three phases from April 15 to May 5 next year.
