The air filter mainly filters the air entering the engine to avoid dust entering the high-speed cylinder and causing wear. In the field of diesel engine filtration, composite fiber paper filter elements are mainly used, and the filtration efficiency is guaranteed by the filter paper grade. The air filter is generally composed of an intake guide pipe, an air filter cover, an air filter housing and a filter element, etc. At present, the air filter widely used in truck engines has various structural forms.

1. DC paper filter element air filter

Paper filter element air filter is widely used in trucks. The filter element made of resin-treated microporous filter paper is installed in the air filter housing. The upper and lower surfaces of the filter element are sealing surfaces. When the wing nut is tightened to firmly fix the air filter cover on the air filter, the upper and lower sealing surfaces of the filter element are in close contact with the mating surfaces of the air filter cover and the bottom of the air filter shell respectively.
The filter paper is pleated to increase the filter area and reduce the filter resistance. The outside of the filter element is a porous metal mesh, which is used to protect the filter element from damage to the filter paper during transportation and storage. The upper and lower ends of the filter element are poured with heat-resistant plastisol to keep the position of the filter paper, the metal mesh and the sealing surface fixed with each other and to maintain the sealing between them.

When the vehicle is working, the impurities are retained outside the filter element by the filter element, and the air passes through the filter paper from the surrounding of the filter element and enters the center of the filter element, and then flows into the intake pipe.

The paper filter element air filter has the advantages of light weight, low cost and good filtering effect, and can be used repeatedly.

2. Centrifugal air filter

Centrifugal air filters are mostly used on large trucks. The air enters the swirl tube tangentially, and a high-speed rotating motion is generated in the swirl tube. The centrifugal force generated by the high-speed rotation makes the foreign matter in the air quickly filter out.

The air enters the cyclone tube in the centrifugal air filter from the air inlet holes around the lower body of the air filter, and most of the dust is thrown to the wall of the cyclone tube. Change the tube into the air filter of the paper filter element, and the remaining fine impurities are filtered out by the paper filter element.

In many dump trucks and mining vehicles, a centrifugal type air filter combined with a paper source core type is also used, and its upper body is a paper filter element air filter. The lower body is a centrifugal air filter.

The centrifugal air filter has the advantages of good filtering effect and light weight, and can be used repeatedly.
