Fuel filter

Equipment for filtering debris from fuel

The fuel filter element is used to filter out the sundries in the fuel. The alias is the oil-water separator and the diesel fine filter, which is a microporous paper filter element. The fuel filters are all filter filters. In the early days, the filter elements of gasoline filters were metal sheet slot type, metal filter mesh type, nylon cloth type, porous ceramic type and so on.

The filter element of diesel filter has several types such as cylindrical felt type, nylon cloth type and cotton yarn type. These filter elements have good passing performance and long service life, but generally have shortcomings such as low filtration efficiency, complex structure, high cost, and inconvenient maintenance, which have been gradually eliminated.

Filtration Mechanism

The filtration mechanism of the filter is basically divided into interception filtration and adsorption filtration. When the filtration efficiency is not high, such as the filtration of particles above 30 microns, the basic particle diameter is larger than the pore size of the filter material, which is a typical interception. However, for the particles below 5 microns, the diameter is smaller than the pore size of the filter material, which belongs to the adsorption filtration method. The adsorption filtration is mainly used for high-performance diesel filters and applied to diesel engines of electronically controlled common rail systems.
