How to drain the truck fuel-water separator
The truck oil-water separator belongs to one of the fuel filters and is an indispensable device on the truck. It is mainly designed to remove water from diesel fuel, reduce fuel nozzle failures, and extend the service life of the vehicle engine. The oil-water separator separates oil and water, including oil-water separator and oil-water separator.
The truck oil-water separator usually has a special drain valve, which can be opened to drain water. The operation mode is different for different models. There are two small white cans on the side of the chassis of many trucks. These two cans are called oil-water separators.
A more accurate drainage method is to find the oil-water separator first, place a 0.2L container under the drain plug of the oil-water separator, unscrew the drain cock anticlockwise, drain water for about 10 seconds, tighten the cock clockwise, unscrew the vent bolt on the top of the filter element anticlockwise, and operate the handle of the hand pump repeatedly for about 30 times until there is fuel spillage at the vent bolt, and then stop until there is no bubble. At this time, quickly tighten the exhaust bolt clockwise to inject fuel. What should be noted here is that after starting the vehicle, be sure to check whether the fuel leaks through the drain cock, and observe whether the fuel filter indicator is off. If not, repeat the above process.
The truck driver shall regularly check the status of the vehicle’s oil-water separator, and replace it in time if it is damaged. Because, if the water in diesel cannot be separated effectively, it will affect the service life of automobile fuel injection nozzle and engine. Freight car engines are usually high-pressure common rail diesel engines, which have very high requirements for diesel quality. If the oil is not up to standard, there are impurities or water, which will damage the high-pressure fuel injection nozzle and affect the fuel injection pressure, time and quantity.
