Where is the fuel filter

Depending on the model, the fuel filter has two structures, one is installed outside the fuel tank, and the other is connected in the pipeline between the fuel pump and the inlet of the throttle body.

The role of the fuel filter

The fuel filter is a controllable valve that controls the entry of air into the engine. After entering the intake manifold, it will be mixed with gasoline (but the design mixing parts of different cars are different) to become a combustible mixture, participating in combustion to do work. (However, the mixing components are designed differently for different models.) Its function is to filter out harmful particles and moisture in the engine gas system, thereby protecting the oil pump nozzle, cylinder liner, piston ring, etc. , reduce wear and avoid clogging.

Fuel filter classification

1. External fuel filter

The external fuel filter is easy to maintain, just loosen the fuel pipe connected to the fuel filter and the screw that fixes the fuel filter. But the new filter comes with two rubber hoses that connect the car’s oil circuit to the fuel filter. When replacing the fuel filter, it should be replaced together with the oil pipe to prevent the rubber hose from aging and deteriorating, causing fuel leakage.

2. Built-in fuel filter

The fuel filter installed in the fuel tank is connected to the gasoline pump when servicing the fuel system. Regular maintenance is impossible to replace the gasoline pump, fuel filter, fuel output device, and the cost is too high. When the fuel system fails, it is necessary to disassemble the fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel output device in order to check the fault point.
